Museum of Mosaics

The Great Palace Mosaic Museum (Turkish: Büyük Saray Mozaikleri Müzesi) is a unique place in Istanbul where you can see mosaics that adorned the Great Imperial Palace of the Byzantine period. This museum is located in the very heart of the city's historical center, in the Arasta Bazaar area, not far from Sultanahmet Square. The exhibition features mosaics that were used to decorate the peristyle and date back to the reign of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I (527–565). However, recent studies may indicate a later date for the creation of the mosaics, possibly even during the reign of Heraclius I. Visitors can enjoy amazing works of art and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the ancient Byzantine palace.
