Obelisk of Constantine. The Composite Obelisk, originally known as Anemodulion, meaning "wind slave," was erected in the Hippodrome of Constantinople in the 10th century. This Byzantine obelisk, which was originally 32 meters high, now stands at 21 meters. According to legend, it was installed by Constantine the Great himself as a temporary replacement for a solid obelisk he brought from Ancient Egypt. However, the exact circumstances of the Composite Obelisk's installation remain unknown.
