Oktyabrskaya Cave

The cave in the Almaty region is located on the northern slope of the Trans-Ili Alatau ridge in the Bogdanovich glacier, just three kilometers from the Shymbulak ski resort. It is the largest cave in Kazakhstan, with a length of 1390 meters. The cave is an ice grotto, with a width varying from 1 to 3 meters, and a height reaching 8-10 meters. Located 25 kilometers from the city of Almaty, the main passage of the cave is 1300 meters long. The entrances to the cave are at different altitudes, and the depth of the third entrance is 118 meters. The floor area of the cave is about 1400 square meters, and the volume of the cavity reaches 7000 cubic meters.
