Shymbulak Resort

Shymbulak is a ski resort in the Trans-Ili Alatau, 30–45 minutes from Almaty. It began in 1954 as a small ski base and has developed into a modern mountain resort with a broad range of pistes and visitor facilities. The best skiing conditions are usually from December to March, when snow cover is most reliable. The resort begins at 2,260 meters, while its highest point, Talgar Pass, reaches 3,180 meters.

Facilities include ten lifts, ski schools, equipment rental, and cafés serving local and international food. Pistes range from easy green runs for beginners to difficult black routes for experienced skiers, along with specialized snowboard areas featuring jumps.

Other activities include snowshoeing, sledding, tubing, and excursions to nearby mountains and waterfalls. Shymbulak offers several ways to experience the winter landscape.
