Rustaveli Theatre

The Shota Rustaveli Georgian State Academic Theatre is one of the oldest and most respected theaters in Georgia, located in the heart of Tbilisi, at 17b Rustaveli Avenue. The history of this theater dates back to the late 19th century, when the building was constructed on the initiative and with the support of Isaia Pitoev, a renowned Tbilisi merchant and patron of Armenian origin. Initially, the theater was Armenian, but over time it became Georgian and received the honorary title of academic in 1966. Today, the Shota Rustaveli Theatre is not only a place of high art and culture but also a symbol of national heritage and creativity in Georgia.
