Sumbul Efendi Mosque. This building was built in honor of the Apostle Andrew, who, according to legend, played an important role in the adoption of Christianity by the Byzantine people. After the conquest of Istanbul, the building was converted into a mosque in 1486. In the courtyard of the mosque are the graves of the elders of Sumbuliye, including Pir Yusuf Sumbul Sinanuddin Efendi, a pir from the Sumbuliye branch of Halvetiye, who died in 1493.
