Theater of Friends

The Theater of Friends is a theater group founded in 1969 in Istanbul by Genko Erkal. It is known for its approach to acting, which can be described as "demonstrative." The Theater of Friends is also known for its focus on documentary theater, especially in the 1970s. They present both contemporary world plays and new works by Turkish playwrights, as well as adapt works by various artists and writers for the stage. In addition, the Theater of Friends offers theater courses, choir classes, and other activities, such as the creation of an amateur workers' theater troupe and a contemporary folk dance troupe.
