Aghdam Mosque

The Aghdam Mosque, also known as the Kerbalayi Safikhan Qarabaghi Mosque, was built between 1868 and 1870 in the city of Aghdam. This historical monument was created by the famous architect Kerbalayi Safikhan Qarabaghi. It is distinguished by its unique architecture, characteristic of the mosques of the Karabakh region. The interior space of the mosque is organized using stone columns that divide it into two-story galleries, as well as a domed ceiling. This architectural style can also be seen in other mosques in the region, such as the mosque in the city of Barda (1860), the Ashaghi (1874-1875) and Juma (1768) mosques, the Govhar Agha Mosque in Shusha, the mosque in the city of Fuzuli (1889), and in the village of Goradiz. Each of these mosques has its own unique history and architectural features, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region.
