Church of the Virgin Mary

The Church of the Virgin of Vail is a historical building that was built in honor of the Virgin Mary in the city of Vail in southern Georgia. This church is a medieval monument of Georgian Orthodox architecture and was built in the 16th century. It was built on the site of an earlier domed church from the late 10th century and has preserved elements of luxurious decoration, such as relief sculptures of laypeople, clergy, and saints on horseback, as well as cornices and window frames. On the cornice of the church, numerous reliefs can be seen depicting animals and angels, making this place even more unique and interesting to visit.
