Bieti Church

The Bieti Church of the Mother of God is an ancient Orthodox church located in Georgia, in the Akhaltsikhe municipality in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region. This cross-domed church was built in the second half of the 14th century. In 1930, the church's dome collapsed, and since then, only a part of the apse with the altar and a pastophorium have survived. In 2019, the reconstruction of the church began after cleaning and conservation work. In 2007, the church was included in the list of immovable cultural monuments of national significance of Georgia. There is also another medieval Georgian church, also called Bieti, which is currently located in the territory of partially recognized South Ossetia.
