Cobweb Art Gallery

Gyumri is home to the unique Cobweb Art Gallery, the world's only gallery where pictures are made from natural spiderwebs. Artist Andranik Avetisyan, known as Ado, spent two years studying spiders in order to express his ideas about space, life, and death. The collection includes web-based versions of the Mona Lisa, The Starry Night, and Breath of the Cosmos.

Ado noticed a cobweb in the corner of his studio, and this became the beginning of his unusual artistic path. He began studying spiders and their webs and even bred them to obtain material for his works. Today, the artist himself leads tours of the gallery, discussing his art and sharing the secrets behind his painstaking masterpieces.
