Hertvisi Fortress

Hertvisi is one of the oldest and best-preserved fortresses in Georgian medieval history. It is located in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, which is situated in southern Georgia. The Hertvisi fortress is located on a high rocky hill in a gorge where the Kura River and its right tributary, the Paravani River, meet. This historical monument of Georgian architecture, along with the Vardzia monastic complex, is considered a potential candidate for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List in Georgia.
