Tsunda Church

Tsunda Church is an ancient Christian structure located in the picturesque region of Samtskhe-Javakheti in Georgia, near the Tmogvi fortress. Built in honor of Saint John the Baptist in the 12th-13th centuries, it is one of the historically significant monuments of the region. Around the church, one can find natural hot springs and terraced gardens, creating a unique atmosphere of the area.

Tsunda Church was built on the site of the ancient city of Tsunda and is located on top of the high rock of Ichkit Gurgenidze. A crypt is located in its basement, and the church's interior, except for the door and window frames, is quite modest. A portal with reliefs was added later, after the completion of the church's construction, giving it additional beauty and uniqueness.
