Istanbul Ashkenazi Synagogue. The Istanbul Ashkenazi Synagogue, also known as Aşkenazi Sinagogu, is an Orthodox synagogue located in the Beyoğlu district of the historic city of Istanbul. It was founded by Jews from Austria-Hungary in 1900 and is the only functioning Ashkenazi synagogue in the city.
