Mother of Kartli Sculpture

Mother of Georgia is a monument located in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, and has become one of its symbols. This monument symbolizes the Georgian national character: the female figure holds a bowl of wine in her left hand to welcome those who come as friends, and a sword in her right hand to defend against enemies. The monument was erected on top of Sololaki Hill in 1958 in honor of the 1500th anniversary of Tbilisi. The author of this 20-meter monument is the famous Georgian sculptor Elguja Amashukeli.
