Church of St. George

The Karapi Church of St. George is a historic building in the old district of Tbilisi known as Kldisubani. Built in ancient times, it originally belonged to the Armenian Apostolic Church until 1991, when it was transferred to the administration of the Georgian Orthodox Church. The entrance to the church is through a stone staircase that rises from the northeast side of Gomi Street. Near the Karapi Church is another former Armenian church, the Petkhain Church of the Holy Mother of God, making this area particularly rich in historical and religious monuments.
