Mount Sovetov

A mountain peak on the northern slope of the Zailiyskiy Alatau ridge, which rises above the basin of the Bolshaya Almatinka River and the Big Almaty Lake. It has a pyramid shape and is located between Lokomotiv Peak and Sovetov Pass. Climbing this peak is classified as Category 1B difficulty.

The first successful ascent of the summit was made by climbers from the Kazakh Pedagogical Institute named after Abai: D. Tuganbaev, S. Semin, and L. Ignatov, under the leadership of V. Zimin in August 1938. The route followed the northwestern ridge.

The summit offers a magnificent view of other mountain peaks such as Abay Peak, Amangeldy Peak, Nursultan Peak, Talgar Peak, and Ordzhonikidze Peak.
