Saint Karapet Church

The Church of Saint Karapet, originally founded by Armenian apostles, was converted into a Georgian Orthodox church in 1995. It is located between the Chugureti and Avlabari districts in Tbilisi, Georgia. The founding date of the church is unknown due to conflicting historical facts. According to Nerses Ashtaraketsi, the church was founded in 1705 by Bagdasar Isaac Kamazov and later restored. However, other sources indicate that the church was built by Kazazov in 1400 and restored in 1790. It is possible that Kazazov and Kamazov are the same person, but the exact founding date remains unclear. The church was adorned with decorative Armenian-style doors, but they were removed in 1995.
