Sapadere Canyon

Sapadere Canyon lies in the Taurus Mountains about 40 kilometres from Alanya and extends for roughly seven kilometres between cliffs up to 400 metres high. A clear mountain river runs through it, ending at a 25-metre waterfall and natural swimming pool. An 800-metre walkway of paths and bridges serves most visitors, while longer trekking routes suit experienced hikers. Ivy-covered rock, pine and cedar groves, rare protected plants and wildlife including birds, lizards, snakes and turtles form a protected ecosystem. The best visiting period is April to October, when paths are dry and the water remains cool.

Public transport from Alanya reaches only Demirtaş, leaving another 15 kilometres to the canyon. Many visitors rent a car, following the D400 to the Demirtaş turn and then local signs, or join jeep tours that combine the canyon with nearby sights.
