Church of Maria Mongolska

Panagia Paramythia Church, also known as the Greek Orthodox Church of Panagia Vlacherna, is located in the Fener district of the Fatih district of Istanbul province, Turkey. This first-degree historical monument was built on an unknown exact date, presumably in the 6th century BC for the princes of Wallachia. For some time between 1587 and 1597, the church was used as the Patriarchate building, after which the Patriarchate was moved from the Monastery of Pammakaristos (Fethiye Mosque). A wooden bell tower was added later when prohibitions were lifted after the Tanzimat Edict. In 2021, a restoration project for the church was prepared, but the work has not yet begun. As a result of a fire in 1978, the church became completely unusable.
