Crimean Memorial Church

The Crimean Memorial Church, also known as the "Church of Christ", is an Anglican church located in the Beyoğlu - Taksim district of Istanbul. It was built on land donated by Sultan Abdulmejid I, between 1858 and 1868, in memory of British soldiers who participated in the Crimean War. The idea of building a memorial church in Istanbul was first proposed in 1856. In 1978, the church was closed due to a lack of parishioners, but in 1991 it was reopened after restoration.
