Iskender Pasha Mosque

This is a beautiful historical mosque located on the pier square in Kanlıca. In its vicinity, you can find the tomb of Gazi Yakender Bey and his son, as well as a fountain and a historical plane tree. The mosque was built in 1560 by the order of Gazi Iskender Pasha, who was the kazasker of Suleiman the Magnificent. The famous architect Mimar Sinan was responsible for the architectural design of the mosque. This mosque belongs to the group of covered mosques created by Mimar Sinan. The mosque building is made of stone with rubble walls and two rows of brick beams. Inside the Kanlıca Gazi Iskender Pasha Mosque, there are harims with a transverse rectangular plan and a narthex surrounded by wooden walls.
