Surp Nigoghayos Church. Surp Nigoghayos Church is a historic Armenian Apostolic Church building located in the Beykoz district of Istanbul, Turkey. Built in 1776, it was rebuilt in 1834 and restored in 1946 after a long period of disrepair. In the following years, the church underwent several renovations, including work in 1962, 1970, and 1982. The uniqueness of this church lies in its wooden bell tower and its iconostasis made of mother-of-pearl and turtle shell, making it special among other churches in Istanbul.
