Matani Monastery

Matani Monastery is a historical site located in the picturesque mountains west of the city in the Akhmeta district of Kakheti, Georgia. This monastery, belonging to the Diocese of Alaverdi, is part of a complex of buildings that includes several churches and monastic structures surrounded by a low fence. A bell tower was built here in the 15th century, and the main monastery building was erected in the mid-5th century. Although Matani Monastery is no longer active, it still attracts tourists and pilgrims with its historical and spiritual significance.
