Museum of the History of Turkish Jews

The Museum of the History of Turkish Jews of the 500th Anniversary Foundation (Turkish: 500. Yıl Vakfı Türk Musevileri Müzesi) is a unique cultural center founded by the 500th Anniversary Foundation with the aim of preserving and transmitting the rich heritage and history of Turkish Jews. The museum opened in Karaköy (Istanbul) on November 25, 2001, and has since become a popular destination for tourists and history researchers.

The 500th Anniversary Foundation was established in 1989 by 113 Turkish citizens representing various religious and ethnic groups, including Jews and Muslims. The main goal of the foundation is to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the arrival of Sephardic Jews in the Ottoman Empire and to preserve their cultural heritage. The idea of creating the museum came about thanks to Naim Gülerüz, who became the curator of the institution. The museum's funding was made possible by the support of the prominent Kamhi Jewish family, which allowed for the preservation of the history and culture of Turkish Jews for future generations.
