Slesa Fortress

Slesa Fortress is an ancient fortress built in the Middle Ages in Georgia. It is located in the Akhaltsikhe municipality, in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region. The history of this fortress is shrouded in mystery and enigma. It consists of a castle, which is now in ruins, and a tower, which is the best preserved. These structures are strategically located on two adjacent hills to protect the southern approaches to the center of Georgia through the Borjomi Gorge. Slesa Fortress is included in the list of national cultural monuments of Georgia, which emphasizes its historical and cultural significance.
