Carmiravan Monastery

Carmiravan is an ancient Armenian monastery located in the picturesque Agdere region of Azerbaijan, near the village of Gozlu. On the walls of this monastery, you can see many stone tablets with inscriptions in Armenian, which tell about its history. One of them indicates the year of foundation - 1224, another speaks of restoration in 1259. It is interesting that both representatives of the Hasan-Jalalyan dynasty and members of the Tsara royal dynasty participated in the construction of the monastery. The monastery itself is a small vaulted hall, to which a narthex and a chapel are adjacent. Its walls are built of white and orange limestone, and large stones are also used, which gives it a special character and uniqueness.
