Kvatakhevi Monastery

Kvatakhevi, also known as Kvatakhevi, is an ancient Georgian Orthodox monastery located in a picturesque gorge in Shida-Kartli, Georgia, near the village of Kavtishevi. It was founded in the 12th-13th centuries and has architectural forms reminiscent of other famous Georgian monasteries such as Betania and Pitareti. The monastery was severely damaged during Timur's invasion in the 14th century, but was restored in 1854 with the support of Prince Ivan Tarkhanov-Muravov. In 1872, a bell tower was added to the monastery, giving it even more grandeur and beauty.
