Grakliani Hill

Grakliani Hill is not only an archaeological site but also a place where the first traces of ancient settlements in Georgia were discovered. Located on the banks of the Lekhura River, it became an object of study for the archaeological expedition of Tbilisi University, led by Professor Vakhtang Licheli. During the excavations, not only settlements but also two temple complexes and burials were found, testifying to the ancient history of this place. Various cultural layers studied by archaeologists allow us to trace the history of human activity in this region over 300,000 years, starting from the Stone Age.
