Rumelihisarı Fortress

Rumelian Fortress, also known as Rumelihisarı or Boğazkesen, was built on the shores of the Bosphorus north of the Bebek district in the European part of Istanbul. The name "Boğazkesen" translates from Turkish as "throat-cutter" or "gullet-cutter." This fortress has Greek roots and is known as Ρούμελη Χισάρ in Greek. It played a significant role in the city's history and was a strategic site during various conflicts.
