Sion Cathedral

Sioni is a historic cathedral in Tbilisi, which is one of the two main churches in the Georgian Church. It was named after Mount Zion and consecrated in honor of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God. The cathedral is located on the banks of the Kura River in the historic center of the city. Before the construction of the Holy Trinity Cathedral (Tsminda Sameba) in 2004, the seat of the Georgian Catholicos was located here.
