Çinili Mosque

Çinili Mosque, also known as Orta Valide Mosque or Mahpeyker Kösem Valide Sultan Mosque, is located in the Muratreis neighborhood of the Üsküdar district on the Asian side of Istanbul. This magnificent temple was built by the architect Koca Kasım Ağa, a student of the famous Sinan, by the decree of Kösem Sultan. Construction began in 1638 and lasted for two years. The interior of the mosque is decorated with beautiful Iznik tiles, which gave it the name Çinili, meaning "tiled" in translation. In the courtyard of the mosque, there is a covered şadırvan (fountain). Additionally, the complex includes a madrasa, a sebil (kiosk), a mekteb (primary school), and even a hammam, which continues to function to this day.
