Jraberdi Fortress

Jraberdi is an ancient fortress built on a cliff top where the Terter and Turaghay rivers meet. In the 17th-18th centuries, it served as the residence of the Armenian Meliks of the Israelyan dynasty. Located in the Aghdara district of Azerbaijan, Jraberdi Fortress is only 6 km away from the Armenian Yerits Mankants Vank Monastery, built in the 17th century on the left bank of the Turaghay River. Due to its location on a sheer cliff at the confluence of two rivers, the fortress remained impregnable for a long time and served as an important defensive point.
