Monastery of Yegishe Arakyal

The Monastery of Yegishe Arakyal, also known as the Monastery of St. Eghishe, is an ancient Armenian temple located in the Tartar region of Azerbaijan, in the vicinity of the village of Madagiz, on the bank of the picturesque Tartar River. The complex includes not only a church but also seven chapels, a cemetery, and the ruins of other buildings, making it an important historical site.

During the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the monastery remained largely undamaged due to its remote location, which saved it from destruction. However, over time, the structure began to deteriorate due to vegetation growth and natural wear and tear. Despite this, the monastery still attracts many tourists and pilgrims with its beauty and historical significance.
